“THIS IS THE ONLY WATCH I WEAR, I’VE WORN IT FOR 17 YEARS” | PETER OBI SPEAKS AGAINST CORRUPTION AT #THEPLATFORM

The immediate past Governor of Anambra, Peter Obi caused a stir on Monday while speaking at policy and governance forum, The Platform.

Obi, who was the fifth speaker during his session said he had one one wristwatch.

The former governor went ahead to say he had been wearing the same wristwatch for 17 years.

“This is the only watch I wear, I’ve worn it for 17 years. Why will I keep a watch at home; whose time is it keeping?” he asked.

Speaking further, Obi said he only wears black shoes and had only two pairs at any time.

On being linked to an apartment in the Ikoyi mansion where the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) discovered over $50m, the former governor said, the, “only place I own a house is Onitsha. If you see any house anywhere else, purportedly belonging to me, confiscate it.”


He added, “Whoever kept that money in the Ikoyi apartment could have earned over $7m if he lodged that money in a bank.”
