This is certainly not the best of times for Tony Anenih, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Edo state.
Known as ‘Mr Fix it’ in political circles, the veteran politician learnt of the death of Eugene, one of his sons, at a time when he is still mourning the loss of his wife.
Plans were still in place for her burial when reports filtered in that Eugene had died at a club in Lagos.
Details of Eugene’s death are still sketchy.
The deceased was the chief executive officer of Nova Finance and Securities Ltd.
In May 2016, there were rumours that the politician had died of a cancer-related ailment in a London hospital.
But the Uromi chief told NAN on the telephone that he was well and strong.
“If I am dead, will I be talking to you? I am in London; I am alive and enjoying myself,” he had said.
“I am not going to issue any press release to debunk the rumour.
“God will punish them. I will be back by Sunday.”
