The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris has deployed a special tactical force to Zaki-Biam

Following a raid by some gunmen suspected to herdsmen in Zaki Biam, Ukum local government area of Benue state, which left 30 people dead, the Nigeria Police Force has swung into action.
The IGP has deployed a special tactical force to the area, led by a commissioner of police and under the supervision of a deputy inspector general of police in the department of operations.
The force is comprising Police Mobile Force (PMF specially trained anti-riot policemen), counter terrorism units, conventional policemen, special anti robbery squad, detachment of EOD, police K9 (sniffer dogs section), police air wing (aerial surveillance helicopters) and other undercover operatives.
According to a press statement by the NPF spokesman, CSP Jimoh Moshood, the team is expected to embark on 24 hours surveillance and patrol, continuous raids of identified and other suspected hideouts of the assailants, with a view to arrest promptly the attackers and their sponsors.
Part of the statement read: ''The deployment of the police special tactical force personnel will cover all the communities, towns, villages, vulnerable points, government and private infrastructures and facilities in the area.
''Police helicopters will embark on guided missions and aerial surveillance of the entire area, most especially difficult terrains and will operate in synergy with other police formations on the ground.''
On Tuesday, March 21, President Buhari had commiserates with the government and people of Benue state on the attack and directed security agencies to begin immediate investigation with a view to bringing the perpetrators of the dastardly act to book.
