Lallana to sign bumper new Liverpool deal

The importance of England’s Player of the Year to Jurgen Klopp's plans has been reflected in the weighty proposal, which he is set to sign

Adam Lallana will pen a new three-year deal at Liverpool on Wednesday that will deservedly catapult him into the club’s grouping of highest earners, with a package in the region of £110,000 a week.

Discussions progressed smoothly over an extended and improved contract for the attacking midfielder, which contains the option of a further 12 months.

An official announcement is expected within the next 24 hours.

The proposal reflects the importance and influence of England’s Player of the Year to Jurgen Klopp’s objectives at Anfield, with Lallana long being one of the manager’s most trusted leaders within the squad.

It lifts him into the same wage bracket as captain Jordan Henderson, vice skipper James Milner and Daniel Sturridge, with Philippe Coutinho’s fresh £150,000-a-week contract the biggest at Liverpool.

What has happened to Jamie Vardy?

Lallana’s seven Premier League strikes coupled with the same number of assists has him just one behind Sadio Mane in goal involvement for the club this season.

The 28-year-old's work off the ball is as significant, with Klopp previously stating: "He's a great, great player and, for our game, very, very important because he is real lively and energetic.

"He loves pressing and counter-pressing."

Lallana has amassed 117 appearances for Liverpool since his £25 million switch from Southampton in the summer of 2014.
