Fani-Kayode attacks FG over alleged withholding of Ekiti allocation

Former aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode has berated the federal government of Nigeria for allegedly holding back monthly allocations to Ekiti state government.

Fani-Kayode says FG has gone too far by allegedly starving Ekiti state people of funds

In tweets on his Twitter handle, Fani-Kayode accused the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government of being “vindictive and reprehensible”.

Fani-Kayode’s reaction follows the outcry by Governor Ayo Fayose that his state’s allocation has been paid for weeks.

He said: “In the last four weeks, Ekiti allocation and the budget support have not been released. Ekiti is the only state that has not been paid for the month of January.

“We have written to the Minister of Finance. My Commissioner was there. I have spoken to the Minister of Finance but nobody is ready to talk to us. The allocation and the budget support is our legitimate earning.”

Fayose held a crucial meeting of southwest governors at Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital, on Monday, February 13.

The meeting was a regular event between the governors in the region and was held to discuss challenges facing the region.
