Police: We recovered ‘stolen’ monies from Goje — not budget documents

The Nigeria police say they only recovered suspected stolen monies and some files from the Abuja residence of Danjuma Goje, a senator from Gombe state.

Last Friday, the police raided the house of Goje, carting away some monies and documents.

Goje, who is the chairman of the senate committee on appropriation, had accused the police of taking away the 2017 budget document after the raid.

He said work on the document might now be delayed.

I never said Buhari to work from home henceforth – Lai Mohammed

Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, says he “never said that President Muhammadu Buhari is to work from home henceforth.”

In a statement issued, in Abuja, on Wednesday, the minister said the reporting in a section of the media of his post- Federal Executive Council (FEC) briefing that the President is to work from home henceforth is erroneous.

The statement, signed by his Special Adviser, Mr. Segun Adeyemi, the minister said “the President only decided to work from home today, not that he has decided to work from home henceforth”.

Senate President Bukola Saraki, Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai were allegedly worked against the possibility of President Muhammadu Buhari picking former Lagos State Governor and a National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as his running mate in the 2015 presidential election.
Tinubu stated that Saraki, El-Rufai and other stalwarts of the Peoples Democratic Party, who defected to the APC in the build-up to the 2015 elections, instigated Buhari and some APC chieftains not to pick him as the would-be Vice-President.

More revelations have emerged on the alleged conspiracy of the US in the electoral defeat of former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.

Jonathan had claimed that former American President Barack Obama, was responsible for his loss.
Jonathan had said, “President Barack Obama and his officials made it very clear to me by their actions that they wanted a change of government in Nigeria and we’re ready to do anything to achieve that purpose. They even brought some naval ships into the Gulf of Guinea in the days preceding the election.”
Meanwhile, the US has since denied the allegation, insisting that Jonathan lost the election because Nigerians wanted him out.

Nnamdi Kanu denies rejecting bail, pledges to meet conditions in 48 hours

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has denied a media report that he rejected the bail granted him on Tuesday by the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court.
Mr. Kanu and three others, David Nwawuisi, Benjamin Madubugwu and Chidiebere Onwudiwe, are facing trial before the court on allegations of treason, among other charges.
Mr. Kanu was granted bail on health grounds with 12 conditions attached to the bail by the presiding judge, Binta Nyako.
Although the request for bail was by all four defendants, only Mr. Kanu’s bail was approved, with the listed conditions.
There have since been media reports that Mr. Kanu rejected the bail because his co-defendants were not allowed bail.

Northern group to Buhari: Leave Jonathan alone… your govt is losing direction

President Muhammadu Buhari has been advised to leave ex-President Goodluck Jonathan alone and focus on his government which is “losing direction”.

The Arewa Peace Coalition (APC) gave the advice in a statement issued by Abdulkadir Mohammed, the group’s coordinator.

Mohammed also called Buhari’s attention to prevalent national issues, including the president’s “lopsided appointments” and the economic hardship facing the country.

He urged Buhari to discourage the “current negative campaign” against Jonathan and focus on the mandate of fixing Nigeria and improving the quality of lives of the millions of Nigerians.
