Russia's take on Trump: Glee gives way to frustration

Trump and Russia: What the fallout could be

The barely-disguised delight in Moscow that greeted Donald Trump's victory on November 8 has gradually melted into a mixture of confusion and frustration.
And that in turn has led to a cold-eyed reappraisal among Russian officials of what can be achieved with the Trump Administration.
The reappraisal was crisply expressed by President Putin's spokesman, Dmitri Peskov, last week, when he told CNN: "We have heard various statements by President Trump. We are full of patience and we are waiting for the moment when the statements are followed by actions."
But "actions" — in the Russian view — are being sabotaged by what officials here describe as the highly-charged emotional atmosphere in Washington.
Even before President Trump's inauguration, Peskov complained about allegations of Russian-sponsored hacking in the US.
"Clearly there are those who are creating hysteria, who are trying to support this witch hunt," he said in January.

Jurgen Klopp admits Liverpool need more quality to address inconsistency

Jurgen Klopp says a lack of quality is a factor in Liverpool's inconsistency this season and suggested they must learn to play more simply to address their difficulties against teams in the bottom half of the Premier League.

After Saturday's 3-1 win over Arsenal, Liverpool have now taken a league-high 19 points from a possible 27 in games against the current top six and remain unbeaten against those sides.

Alexis Sanchez dropped vs. Liverpool for working out of training session- reports

Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez was dropped for Saturday's Liverpool game as a disciplinary measure after falling out with Arsene Wenger and storming out of a training session during the week, several British newspapers reported on Sunday.

Wenger surprisingly dropped Sanchez to the bench for the crucial clash at Anfield before bringing him on in the second half of the 3-1 loss, when the Gunners were already 2-0 down.

While Wenger said the decision was based on tactical reasons, newspaper reports Sunday evening said it was because the Arsenal boss had lost patience with the star striker's attitude in recent weeks. The Guardian and Telegraph both reported that Sanchez stormed out of a training session during the week and then clashed with teammates in the dressing room.

"Having taken a balanced view of the application, I'm satisfied this is a high-quality and spectacular design which will significantly increase capacity within the existing site, as well as ensuring fans can have easy access from nearby transport connections.

Ibrahimovic to 'respect every decision' if FA takes retrospective action

Zlatan Ibrahimovic apologised for a "bad day" that will prove even more costly should the Manchester United striker face retrospective Football Association action.

A week on from his match-winning performance in the EFL Cup final, the 35-year-old was making headlines for the wrong reasons after ugly clashes and wasting the chance to turn a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth into a much-needed win.

Ibrahimovic's penalty was saved by the impressive Artur Boruc and the striker could have been sent off after catching Tyrone Mings with an elbow shortly after the Cherries defender landed on the back of his head.
