DONALD TRUMP IT'S CURTAINS FOR HILLARY CLINTON!!!

0123-trump-penthouse-tmz

Donald Trump thinks Hillary Clinton was a disaster on foreign policy and health care, but he clearly thinks she knows her drapes.

One of the first orders of business for the Trump Administration was to take down the fiery red drapes that flanked President Obama in the Oval Office. The replacement ... the very same drapes Hillary Clinton chose for her husband back in 1993.

The gold fabric endured throughout the Clinton presidency, but went into storage when George W. chose a deeper color, more in the brown than gold family. President Obama went code red.

When Hillary chose the drapes, she said she picked the color because she wanted the Oval Office to be "more dynamic, to show more energy."

Trump's taste is non-partisan ... he's also re-installed Reagan's sunbeam rug and W's gold brocade sofas.

As for Trump's penchant for gold ... well, check out his NYC pad.

Article 50 ruling: UK Supreme Court gives parliament Brexit vote

Brexit has become a key test of Prime Minister Theresa May's leadership.

Britain's Supreme Court has ruled that the UK government must hold a vote in parliament before beginning the process of leaving the European Union.
The decision is a complication for Prime Minister Theresa May, who wanted to trigger Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty -- the legal mechanism that begins the process of leaving the EU -- by the end of March. Doing so would open the door for EU negotiations, which are likely to last two years.
May had promised lawmakers a vote on the outcome of the talks, but wanted to begin the process without a decision in parliament.
The Supreme Court judges voted eight to three against the government, upholding a November High Court decision. The judges, who deliberated the case over four days in December, said that the legal consequences of leaving the EU were great enough to require an act of parliament to start the process.
"To proceed otherwise would be breach of settled constitutional principles stretching back many centuries," Lord David Neuberger, president of the Supreme Court, said as he read out the ruling.
But the court decided that the UK government did not need the approval of devolved governments in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales to begin the negotiating process.
That decision is likely to be met with relief at 10 Downing Street, as 62% of Scots voted to remain in the union, and Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has remained opposed to the country's EU withdrawal.
What the UK government said
The government said it was disappointed by the ruling, but would abide by it.
Jeremy Wright, the Attorney General for England and Wales, told reporters outside the court that ministers would "comply with the judgment of the court and do everything necessary to implement it."
But a spokesperson for Theresa May said the ruling would not change the government's Brexit timeline.
"The British people voted to leave the EU, and the government will deliver on their verdict -- triggering Article 50, as planned, by the end of March. Today's ruling does nothing to change that," the spokesperson said in a statement.
"It's important to remember that parliament backed the referendum by a margin of six to one and has already indicated its support for getting on with the process of exit to the timetable we have set out."
Brexit has become a key test of Prime Minister May's leadership. May took over the premiership after former leader David Cameron stood down over the Brexit vote. Cameron had called the referendum but had campaigned for the country to remain in the union.

Devita Saraf, the CEO and Founder of Vu Televisions, is trending on Twitter thanks to an advertisement she has given in some national dailies. In the advertisement. the “Businesswoman, Techie, Fashionista”, who Twitter’s bio also calls her “India’s Model CEO (Forbes) & Youngest on Fortune Top 50 Most Powerful” is seen posing with president-elect Donald Trump who, according to her, once called the Ivanka Trump of India.

Saraf congratulates Trump on his impending inauguration as the next President of the United States. She even tweeted about the same. “Congratulations @realDonaldTrump , I’m inspired by your self-belief & commitment to leadership. Thank you for calling me “India’s Ivanka”, she wrote.

It probably caught attention because Trump, in India, might not have many fans given the various statements he made publicly and the controversial presidential campaign. However, there’s no denying the fact that the president-to-be has many supporters including singer Mika who’s in the US at the moment to support Trump. Saraf is one among his supporters.

However, she drew a lot of flak on Twitter for advertising his support for Trump. Sample these.

Arsene Wenger charged by FA after fourth official incident vs. Burnley

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been charged with misconduct by the English Football Association following his actions in Sunday's 2-1 win over Burnley in the Premier League.

Wenger appeared to push Anthony Taylor twice after the fourth official told the Frenchman to leave the tunnel, where he had stopped to watch Burnley's Andre Gray take an injury-time penalty.

Wenger had been sent off for protesting that decision by referee Jon Moss, even though Francis Coquelin had clearly fouled Ashley Barnes in the box.

An FA statement read: "Arsene Wenger has been charged for misconduct following Arsenal's game against Burnley on Sunday [22 January 2017].

"It is alleged that in or around the 92nd minute, he used abusive and/or insulting words towards the fourth official.

"It is further alleged that following his dismissal from the technical area, his behaviour in remaining in the tunnel area and making physical contact with the fourth official amounted to improper conduct.

"He has until 6pm on 26 January 2017 to respond to the charge."

Wenger, whose side went on to win the match thanks to Alexis Sanchez's penalty in the eighth minute of injury time, apologised for his behaviour in his postmatch interview.

Chelsea's David Luiz plays down Diego Costa row speculation

David Luiz shrugged off the recent attention surrounding his Chelsea teammate Diego Costa, telling SFR Sport that "people talk a lot without knowing anything."

Costa marked his return to the side on Sunday with the opening goal in the Blues' 2-0 victory over Hull City, having been left out of Jan. 14's 3-0 win at Leicester City after a training ground row over a back injury, amid links with move to Chinese Super League club Tianjin Quanjian.

The Spain international gave his manager Antonio Conte a warm handshake after being substituted late on in Sunday's win against the Tigers, which sent Chelsea eight points clear at the top of the Premier League.

Luiz, who saw centre-back partner Gary Cahill claim the Blues' other goal, said the speculation around Costa was now just part of the modern game.

That's his job, to score goals, and he works on that every day," Luiz said. "He does his job very well. He's a great player who's in fantastic form right now. He's playing well, and I'm happy for him because sometimes people talk a lot without knowing anything, and he's had to go through that. But it's normal people talk about the best players in the world, Diego is one of them."

When asked what had happened leading up to Costa's absence against Leicester, Luiz said: "I don't know. Things were normal. Everyone has offers, everyone has things to talk about. He's happy, always wants to play football, that's what's important for me."

Costa's strike against Hull was his 15th goal of the season, and marked his 100th appearance for the club, with whom he remains under contract until 2019.

Trump to withdraw from TPP, reinstate 'Mexico City policy' on abortion

President Donald Trump on Monday will start to unravel the behemoth trade deal he inherited from his predecessor, as two sources familiar with the matter told CNN he plans to sign an executive order to withdraw from the negotiating process of the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
That executive order will send signals to Democrats and leaders in foreign capitals around the world that Trump's rhetoric on trade during the campaign is turning into action. Trump vowed during the campaign to withdraw the US from the Pacific trade deal, commonly known as TPP, which he argued was harmful to American workers and manufacturing.
The TPP was negotiated under former President Barack Obama, but never ratified by Congress, so withdrawing from it will not have an immediate, real effect on US economic policies, although it does signal a new and very different US outlook on trade under Trump.
Two other sources told CNN that other executive orders planned for Monday included reinstating the Mexico City abortion rules and instituting a five-year lobbying ban for anyone who works in administration.
The executive order on TPP is expected to be the first Trump will issue Monday, a senior White House official said, and will amount to the administration's first major action on foreign policy.
RELATED: Obama pushes trade in Asia, but has 2016 killed the TPP?
Trump's action comes as the President is looking to change the conversation after a rocky first weekend at the White House, during which, he and his officials feuded with the press and his presidency was greeted with massive protests in the nation's capital and in large cities across the US.
The executive action will be just one part of the Trump administration's efforts to focus attention on its plans to radically reshape US trade policies, making good on a central premise of Trump's campaign and its economic nationalist underbelly.
Trump on Monday will also meet with union leaders and blue-collar workers several hours after signing the executive order, as well as separate meetings with business leaders.
As the Republican nominee, Trump railed against free trade agreements he argued were lopsided against the US and vowed to implement more protectionist trade policies as president, rallying voters to the polls with his "America First" slogan.
Trump has also threatened to impose trade tariffs as a way to revive American manufacturing and compel US companies not to take their manufacturing operations abroad.
Obama's administration worked with the 11 countries that became signatories for more than two years to formulate the massive free trade deal that was set to reshape commerce throughout the Pacific Rim, triggering movement among multinational companies in the region at the same time. Trump's election swiftly dealt a death knell -- one formalized on Monday -- to the deal, sending shockwaves in Asian capitals that had pinned their economic hopes on the deal.
Trump's decision to withdraw the US from TPP is also a first step in the administration's efforts to amass a governing coalition to push the new President's agenda, one that includes the blue-collar workers who defected from Democrats and flocked to Trump's candidacy in November.
The move could also put many Democrats -- particularly those who opposed the trade deal -- in a tricky position as they look to hold on to union support, a key constituency in their political coalition.
Obama struggled to sell many Democrats on the trade deal, in particular because of concerns about how the trade deal would impact American manufacturers and the US workers in that industry.
Even Hillary Clinton, the Democratic presidential nominee who pushed the TPP deal as secretary of state, backed off her support for the deal during the campaign amid pressure from the left.
Democrats with heavy union worker constituencies will either need to get on board with Trump's protectionist trade policies or risk losing reelection.
Republican leaders, many of whom supported the TPP trade deal and free trade more broadly, will also be pressed to react Monday -- reactions that could show daylight between top Republicans on Capitol Hill and the White House on a top policy issue.
Trump has said that he also plans to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement, a free trade deal joining the US, Mexico and Canada.

Man United boss Jose Mourinho: It's not easy to change this team

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has said it would be difficult to make changes to his side despite recent dropped points due to the quality of the players' performances.

United's nine-game winning run in all competitions ended when they drew 1-1 against Liverpool at Old Trafford and that was followed by another 1-1 draw, away against Stoke City, on Saturday.

Anthony Martial, last season's top scorer, was not selected in the matchday squad at Stoke.

Mourinho told reporters: "Sometimes we are playing so well and creating chances -- it is not easy to make changes.

"It is easy to make changes when you see players not playing well, when you see a team not playing well. I change trying to give a different direction to the game."

United had 25 shots against Stoke, while the home team managed six, and it continued a recurring theme this season of pressure not being turned into goals.

Juan Mata missed the best of the chances, shooting over from close range -- and also scored an own goal -- before Wayne Rooney eventually equalised late on for Mourinho's side.

The United manager said: "A top team has to be much more clinical. You have to get the first chance of the match and 'bang,' 1-0. When you are winning by a goal then, the next chance, 'boom' -- kill the opponent. And we are not doing that enough.

"We did that in a couple of matches but even in the matches that we won, if I remember for example Middlesbrough and Crystal Palace, it is always hard to score goals."

Speaking in his postmatch news conference after the Stoke game, he said: "I've been saying for a long, long time that one day we will score every chance of the match and somebody will go home with six or seven goals in the basket but the reality is that day never arrives and we always struggle so much to score goals.

"We hit the post, the goalkeeper saves, we miss the easy chance, and then in the end, we risk losing the match -- by scoring an own goal -- and we had to wait until minute 90-something to equalise."

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp reveals frustration over January deals

Jurgen Klopp has said Liverpool are keen to reinforce the squad in the January window but have been frustrated by clubs' refusal to do business in mid-season.

Klopp has previously played down the idea of January arrivals and said English football is "obsessed" with transfers, but he acknowledged after Saturday's surprise 3-2 loss to Swansea City that the club have been looking at potential additions.

"I understand it is absolutely normal that people ask whether we should have brought players in," he told reporters. "The situation is yes, on the one side pretty simple, but on the other hand it is pretty difficult.

"It is not that we don't want to bring players in -- we do -- but the thing is, the players we want because we think they help us, the clubs don't sell. It is not about money in this situation, it is the winter transfer window.

"Clubs are saying: 'No, we have half a year to go. We cannot find another player like this. We prefer to take money in the summer than a few pounds more in the winter than whatever.' So it is pretty easy. You see the situation.

"It's tight, it's close, we know that, but if the right decision is not possible in signing the right player then you cannot make the wrong transfer."

The Reds, chasing a first title since 1990, have endured a difficult start to 2017, taking only two points from three league games and have now fallen to fourth, 10 points behind leaders Chelsea.

Their only victory since the turn of the year came in an FA Cup replay against League Two side Plymouth Argyle.

Klopp added: "It is not as if there are 20 players out there who could make this team stronger, who are running around and are available. That is the situation.

"That is why I say we know the situation, we are prepared to move, but for the right player. We are not the only side who can decide the outcome of that, though, are we? The selling club makes the decision too."

Liverpool have lost Senegal international Sadio Mane while he competes in the African Nations Cup, while Cameroonian defender Joel Matip missed two games amid uncertainty over his eligibility after he declined to take part in the tournament. FIFA has since ruled that Matip is free to play.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Abike Dabiri-Erewa has warned Nigerian migrants to avoid Libya.

Dabiri-Erewa also warned against illegal entry to Libya, noting that such immigrants to the country when caught and convicted were placed on death penalty.

The Presidential aide said this in a statement made available to the newsmen in Abuja on Monday, January 23.

“The committee, in collaboration with SERAP, an NGO, petitioned the UN, AU, ECOWAS, and Ghadaffi yielded to pressure and released them,” she said.

She said that about two months ago, NEMA alongside the Nigerian Embassy in Libya, evacuated more than 2000 Nigerians from Libya.

According to her, the Nigerian Embassy in Libya, in collaboration with NEMA have relentlessly intervened in cases involving Nigerians in trouble in Libya and will continue to do so.

Dabiri-Erewa said “Libyans are dealing with their own struggles as there is no recognised government in place.”

How Tinubu’s plane helped remove Jammeh

INDICATIONS have emerged that a plane belonging to the National Leader of All Progressives Congress ,APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was used to fly ex-Gambian President, Mr. Yahaya Jammeh out of the country.

Vanguard learnt that the gesture was in furtherance of the reconciliatory efforts of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, in the country where Jammeh’s refusal to relinquish power led to political crisis.

It was learnt that upon being contacted for the use of the aircraft, Tinubu, who was in Conakry at that time, agreed on condition that it should only be used for the purpose in order to restore peace and democracy in the country.

The VP-CBT Falcon jet, which had been with Guinean President, Alpa Conde for days, was stationed in Banjul to ferry Jammeh out of the country after 22 years in power.

Vanguard further gathered that Tinubu is a personal friend of President Conde.
Conde and Mauritania’s President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz had spent much of Friday in Banjul persuading Jammeh to leave power.

A BBC report on Saturday at 10.30 pm said the plane had taken off for Guinea with Jammeh, his family and President Conde on board.

The former Gambian leader was flown to Conakry where he would temporarily stay before leaving for Equatorial Guinea where he would live in exile.

West African leaders did not agree to immunity for Jammeh during negotiations that convinced Gambia’s longtime ruler to flee into exile, Senegal’s foreign minister said on Sunday.

Jammeh, who is accused of serious rights violations, led his country for 22 years but refused to accept defeat in a December election. He flew out of the capital Banjul late on Saturday as a regional military force was poised to remove him.

Presidency : Mohammed Junaidu is a biased critic, he’s got no respect for Nigerians leaders

ABUJA – Presidency has described a second republic member of the House of Representatives from Kano State, Dr. Mohammed Junaidu as a biased critic whose stock in trade over the years has been to haul insults at leaders of Nigeria.
It also stated that Junaidu is seeking cheap publicity to keep himself relevant after retiring from active politics. Reacting to an interview where the former federal lawmaker stated that President Muhammadu Buhari does not accept his mistakes, the Presidency which spoke though a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu on Sunday said dismissed the notion as a lie.
Shehu in the statement reminded Junaidu that President Buhari publicly took responsibility and apologized over the dissolution of the Governing Councils of Federal Universities when it was discovered that due process was not followed. Contrary to Junaidu’s position that President Buhari has not recorded any meaningful feat since his assumption of office in May 2015, Shehu stated that Nigeria under Buhari had been rif of corruption, also highlighting that the administration had greatly decimated Boko Haram in that the insurgents were no more occupying any place within the Nigerian territory. The statement read thus: “The Presidency will like to break with tradition by reacting to the latest attack on President Muhammadu Buhari’s integrity in an interview by a former House of Representatives member from Kano State, Dr. Junaidu Mohammed.

“While Dr. Junaidu Mohammed is entitled to his opinion, he is not entitled to misrepresent facts about the concrete achievements of the Buhari administration in the past two or so years, including the undeniable fact that the Boko Haram terrorists have been significantly crippled militarily, because they no longer have the capability to invade and occupy towns and villages unchallenged by the country’s reinvigorated and motivated military personnel. “The fact that civil servants and political office holders are now afraid to steal with impunity is itself a major psychological boost for the anti-corruption crusade of the Buhari administration, which no sincere Nigerian can pretend not to notice. “Contrary to Junaidu’s claims that President Buhari doesn’t acknowledge mistakes, we wish to remind the medical doctor that the President publicly took responsibility and apologized over the dissolution of the Governing Councils of Federal Universities when it was discovered that due process was not followed. “We must stress that taking responsibility for mistakes is one of the finest components of integrity, and that President Buhari has never failed in demonstrating this virtue in words and deeds. “Since the coming of the Buhari administration, the country has saved billions and trillions of Naira which could be diverted to private pockets if the government wasn’t committed to transparency and accountability. “We advise Nigerians to be wary of prejudiced and biased critics like Dr. Junaidu Mohammed who are more interested in personal publicity than respecting facts and figures about their claims. “If Junaidu Mohammed wants to be taken seriously, he should demonstrate the duty of speaking truthfully about those he frequently attacks in his interviews. “It must be noted that President Buhari was not the only target of Junaidu’s personal vituperations, as former Presidents Shehu Shagari, Ibrahim Babangida, Olusegun Obasanjo,Umaru Yar’adua and Goodluck Jonathan, had all been victims of his jaundiced and malicious attacks. When it came to the late Sani Abacha, he tried it, but once he saw the prospect of elimination, he retreated. “A cursory library search will reveal that this man has nurtured the habit of insulting every leader this country has produced in his time. Like a narcissist, he is just interested in grabbing headlines. Without publicity, Dr. Junaidu would probably give up on life. “It is unfortunate that Junaidu Mohammed has been using his political retirement life to engage in insulting every President to grab the newspaper headlines, in addition to taking advantage of the gullibility of uncritical readers that don’t bother to subject him to facts-check. “It is obvious that Dr. Junaidu appears be infected by pathological cynicism and these kinds of critics are toxic to national progress because they are only primarily interested in destroying every positive effort and achievements of the government.”
