D'BANJ AND PETER OKOYE

Muma Gee, Tonto Dikeh and Mercy Aigbe have one thing common; alleged domestic violence.

The three entertainers are the latest celebrities that have accused their estranged husbands of domestic abuse.

Of late, the marital crisis of Aigbe has dominated entertainment headlines across the country.

She claims to have been constantly battered by her husband, yet stayed in the marriage because of her children.

Dikeh and Muma Gee‘s reasons for staying put despite alleged abuse are of similar nature.

As the trend of domestic violence appears to be on the increase, more celebrities, male and female, are taking a stand against the anomaly.

Singer D’banj took to Twitter to urge women who are victims of domestic violence to “run” from their abuser.

“If he hits you, he is not a man. He is a Beast. RUN! Stay safe. Love hath no Violence,” he wrote.

“Don’t be deceived. Anyone who is telling you ‘men hit, its normal’ is either in denial or guilty. NO Excuse LEAVE!!!!!! God help us all.

“Give yourselves all the nomenclature you want. Wrong is wrong. When the head is cut off, the ears go with it. Be Wise.”
Coco-Ice, a contestant on Big Brother Naija, said she has been a victim of domestic abuse in the past and advised women to end a relationship once there are signs of violence.

“I was dating dis guy 1st time slap! He Begged! Evry1 begged for him! I went back! 2nd time he beat me like a Drum! I never went back! NEVER,” she wrote.
Peter Okoye, one-half of Psquare, said it is only weak men that beat their wives or partners.

He took to Instagram to take a stand against the menace, saying, “real men don’t beat women”.

This should be an eye opening incident to all the females out there. A sad case of When the person who is supposed to protect you becomes your killer. We live in a messed up world, very sad. Abuse should not be taken lightly.”
